DON'T WASTE THE DAY

Paul tells believers to walk carefully. That means the Christian life is not meant to be lived on autopilot. We are called to pay attention to our steps, our habits, our influences, and the way we spend the time God gives.

Redeeming the time does not mean filling every hour with activity until the soul is exhausted. It means refusing to live carelessly. It means recognising that our days belong to the Lord and should not be surrendered to things that dull our love for Him.

Some time is lost through obvious sin. Some is lost through endless distraction. Some is lost through delay, where we know what God has been asking of us but keep saying, "Not yet." Grace does not call us to shame; it calls us to wake up.

There is still mercy for today. If you have wasted time, bring it to God. Repent where needed. Receive His forgiveness. Then ask Him to help you walk wisely from here.

The day in front of you is not an accident. Use it to love well, obey quickly, pray honestly, and honour Christ in what seems ordinary.

To redeem the time is to remember that time can be spent in ways that cannot be recovered. That is a sobering thought, but also a gracious one. God gives us today, and today can be turned toward Him.

This does not mean every restful moment is wasted. Rest can be obedience when it is received rightly. Jesus Himself withdrew to pray. The issue is not whether every minute looks productive; the issue is whether our lives are being offered to the Lord or slowly swallowed by distraction.

The passage says the days are evil, which means we should not be naive. The world is constantly forming desires, priorities, and habits in us. If we do not walk carefully, we will be shaped without even noticing. Wisdom pays attention and brings the day back under the Lordship of Christ.

Jesus said in John 9:4, "We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work." That truth gives urgency without panic. We are not trying to earn God's love by activity; we are responding to His love with faithful stewardship.

Ask the Lord to show you where time is being quietly drained. It may not be one obvious thing. It may be small patterns that leave your heart dull: endless scrolling, constant comparison, repeated procrastination, or conversations that never build up. Grace can teach us to choose differently.

Redeeming the time may require saying no. Not every opportunity is an assignment. Not every invitation is wisdom. Even good things can crowd out obedience if they pull the heart away from what God has clearly placed before us. Wisdom asks the Lord for ordered loves and ordered days.

Wisdom does not waste what grace has given.
