FAITH WORKING BY LOVE

Paul points us away from empty religious confidence and toward faith that works by love. The Christian life is not about appearing impressive. It is about belonging to Christ and letting His love move through us.

Faith without love becomes harsh. Activity without love becomes noise. Correct words without love can still wound. But love without truth is not biblical love either. In Christ, faith and love belong together.

This kind of love is not sentimental. It is patient when patience costs something. It tells the truth with humility. It serves when no one is watching. It refuses to use people. It seeks what honours God and blesses others.

Ask yourself gently: Is my faith making me more loving? More patient? More willing to serve? More ready to forgive? More committed to truth? The fruit of the Spirit is not an optional decoration on the Christian life.

If love has grown thin, return to Christ. We love because He first loved us. His grace fills what our striving cannot produce.

In 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, Paul says, "if I have prophetic powers," and even "if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing." That should make us pause. We can be busy, correct, gifted, and still miss the heart of Christ if love is absent.

But biblical love is not weakness or compromise. Jesus loved perfectly, and He still spoke truth, confronted hypocrisy, and called people to repentance. Faith working through love means truth is carried with humility, and love is guarded by truth.

Ask the Lord not only to increase your activity, but to purify your motive. Let love become more than a feeling. Let it become patience, service, courage, forgiveness, and holiness expressed through ordinary obedience.

Jesus said in John 13:35, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." Not by branding, arguments, or religious confidence, but by love. That should humble us. Love is not a side issue in Christian witness; it is one of the clearest signs that we belong to Him.

If your faith has become sharp but not tender, ask the Lord to soften you without weakening your obedience. If your love has become sentimental but not truthful, ask Him to strengthen it with holiness. Christ shows us both together.

This also keeps correction from becoming cruelty. When love is active, even hard words are spoken with tears rather than triumph. The goal is not to win, shame, or control, but to honour Christ and seek the good of the other person.

Let your faith be seen, not as performance, but as love in motion.
