EVEN SO, COME

The final prayer of Scripture is simple and full of longing: "Come, Lord Jesus!" It is the cry of a people who know this world is not their final home.

To pray for His coming is to confess that our hope is not in human strength, earthly systems, or temporary comfort. Our hope is in Christ Himself. He is the One who will make all things new.

This prayer also purifies the heart. If we truly long for Jesus to come, we will want to be found faithful. We will not make peace with sin as though the Master is delayed forever. We will live as servants waiting for their Lord.

And yet this prayer is full of comfort. Revelation 21:4 promises, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes," and the final promise of Christ in Revelation 22:20 says, "Surely I am coming soon." The Lamb who was slain will reign forever.

Until that day, we keep walking. We keep loving. We keep praying. We keep holding fast.

Surely He comes. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
