HE GIVES STRENGTH TO THE WEARY

Isaiah does not say the weary are ignored by God.

He says God gives power to the faint and increases strength to the one who has no might. The Lord is not offended by your need. He is not surprised by your limits. He does not look at weakness in His people and wonder what to do with it.

He gives strength.

Many of us try to hide weariness, especially when people depend on us. We push, perform, smile, and keep moving while the soul quietly runs low. We can begin to believe that admitting tiredness means failure. But Scripture is honest about human limitation.

Even youths grow tired. Even the strong can fall exhausted. Natural strength has an end.

But God's strength does not.

Isaiah says those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. Waiting on the Lord is not passive emptiness. It is dependence. It is bringing weakness honestly before Him and trusting Him to supply what we cannot manufacture.

PSALM 73:26 (ESV) says, "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

That is not denial. The psalmist admits that flesh and heart may fail. But failure of human strength is not the end of hope, because God Himself is the strength of the heart.

This is important for the person who feels ashamed of being tired.

Weariness is not always sin. Sometimes it is the reality of being human in a broken world. Sometimes it is the result of carrying much for a long time. Sometimes it is physical, emotional, spiritual, or all of them together. There are also times when weariness comes because we are carrying what God never asked us to carry, or because we have neglected rest, prayer, or wise boundaries.

The Lord can meet us honestly in all of that.

He may strengthen you to continue.

He may also lead you to lay something down.

He may renew your courage.

He may restore your soul.

He may use His Word, His presence, His people, and His wisdom to bring strength back into places that feel empty.

Do not let shame drive you away from God. Let need drive you toward Him.

Paul learned this in a deep way. 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 (ESV) records the Lord saying, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." That does not make weakness comfortable, but it does reveal that weakness is not useless in God's hands. It can become the place where we stop trusting our own strength and learn the sufficiency of His grace.

This is different from celebrating exhaustion. Sometimes we need to repent of refusing rest. Sometimes we need to ask for help. Sometimes we need to stop calling overcommitment faithfulness. God gives strength to the weary, but He also gives wisdom to the weary. The same Lord who empowers His people also teaches them that they are not God.

MATTHEW 11:28 (ESV) records Jesus saying, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The invitation is personal. Come to Me. Not come to performance. Not come to pressure. Not come to pretending. Come to Christ with the real weight.

Strength from God may not always feel like suddenly having endless energy. Sometimes it is grace to take the next step without collapsing inwardly. Sometimes it is peace that steadies the mind. Sometimes it is courage to say no. Sometimes it is endurance to continue in what He has clearly assigned.

The faint are not forgotten.

The weary are not beyond His care.

He gives strength where strength is gone.

Do not confuse weakness with uselessness. The Lord has done mighty things through people who knew they were not enough. In fact, weakness can make room for dependence that pride would never choose. When you stop pretending you have endless strength, you may begin to receive the strength God actually gives.

This is also why waiting on the Lord is not wasted time. Waiting teaches the soul where help comes from. It slows the frantic instinct to save ourselves. It brings us back to the One whose power does not fade.

Come weary, but do not come hopeless.

The Lord who gives strength also knows the exact weight you have been carrying. Nothing about your weariness is confusing to Him. Bring it into His presence before you decide you are finished.
