Born Under the Law

God is never late. GALATIANS 4:4 (ESV) says, "But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son." The coming of Christ was not random, rushed, or accidental. It came at the fullness of time, according to the wisdom of God. That phrase steadies the heart. We often judge timing by our own urgency. If something takes longer than we expected, we assume delay. If a door does not open when we wanted, we assume absence. If the answer comes differently, we assume confusion. But God's timing is not measured by our impatience. At the fullness of time, He sent His Son. Paul says Jesus was "born of woman, born under the law." Christ truly entered human history. He came under the law, not as a sinner needing correction, but as the obedient Son who would fulfil what we failed to fulfil. The purpose is clear in GALATIANS 4:5 (ESV): "to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons." Redemption and adoption belong together. We were not merely guilty people needing a cleared record. We were also brought into family through Christ. The Son came so that sinners could be redeemed and made children of God.

ROMANS 8:15 (ESV) says believers have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" That cry is not earned by our worthiness. It is given through the redeeming work of Christ. If you are struggling with timing, look again at the fullness of time. God's plan of salvation unfolded with wisdom deeper than human expectation. He knows how to send, fulfil, redeem, and adopt. His timing is not careless. It is full. That truth can steady a heart that feels behind, overlooked, or delayed. The fullness of time reminds us that God is not pressured by our clocks, but He is never indifferent to His promises. ECCLESIASTES 3:11 (ESV) says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." The same verse reminds us that we cannot discover the whole of God's work from beginning to end. We may not understand His whole work or timing, but we can trust His sovereign wisdom. The Son came at the appointed time, and the Father still knows how to order the steps of His people.
