Work With All Your Might

Faithfulness often lives in the work directly in front of us. ECCLESIASTES 9:10 (ESV) says, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might." The verse sits within the sober reality that life is brief. That makes diligence matter.

Some people wait for a more impressive assignment before they become faithful. They imagine obedience will begin when the opportunity feels bigger, clearer, easier, or more visible. But Scripture repeatedly honours faithfulness in ordinary places. The work in front of you may not be glamorous, but it can still be done before the Lord.

This applies to employment, home, study, service, parenting, practical responsibilities, and unseen tasks. Laziness can wear spiritual language. So can procrastination. But a surrendered heart does not despise ordinary obedience simply because it feels small.

PROVERBS 14:23 (ESV) says, "In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty." Words about intention are not the same as faithful labour. There is a time to plan, but there is also a time to put your hand to the work.

Do what is in front of you with faithfulness. Not to earn worth. Not to build an image. Do it because life is brief, God is worthy, and ordinary work becomes meaningful when it is offered to Him.

There is dignity in ordinary work when it is done before God. The task may be unseen by others, but it is not unseen by the Lord. The home cared for, the job done honestly, the responsibility completed, the small act of service, the difficult duty carried with patience: these are not beneath the Christian life. They are places where faithfulness becomes visible. The question is not always whether the work feels important, but whether it is being offered faithfully.
