Sow to the Spirit

Choices are not weightless. GALATIANS 6:7 (ESV) says, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." That is a serious warning and a gracious clarity.

The flesh tells us small compromises do not matter. It says hidden choices have no harvest. It says we can sow one thing and reap another. But Scripture says God is not mocked. Seeds grow according to their kind.

Sowing to the flesh may feel easy at first. It can look like feeding bitterness, indulging lust, nursing pride, choosing laziness, excusing dishonesty, or living for self. But the harvest of the flesh is corruption. God tells the truth because He is merciful.

GALATIANS 6:8 (ESV) says the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. This is not a call to earn salvation by works. It is a call to live in step with the Spirit, choosing what agrees with the life of God.

Ask what you are sowing today. Habits are seeds. Words are seeds. Thoughts are seeds. Private choices are seeds. Do not be deceived by what seems small. Sow to the Spirit, and trust that faithfulness before God is never wasted.

This is a sobering mercy because it tells us the truth before the harvest comes. God warns us so we do not have to pretend surprise later. If we keep sowing anger, we should not expect peace. If we keep sowing secrecy, we should not expect freedom. If we keep sowing to the Spirit, even when it feels slow, we can trust God with the fruit. The field of the heart is never neutral.

So do not despise small acts of obedience. Opening the Word, refusing temptation, confessing quickly, serving quietly, speaking truth, and choosing worship may look small in the moment. But seeds are often small before the harvest is seen.
