He Will Renew Your Strength

January can end with the same reality every month carries: human strength is limited. Plans may have begun with energy, but weariness still comes. Some burdens remain. Some routines are harder than expected. Some obedience requires more endurance than emotion can provide.

ISAIAH 40:31 (ESV) says, "they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength." The promise is not for those who never feel weak. It is for those who wait for the Lord. Their strength is renewed because their hope is placed in Him.

Waiting for the Lord is not empty delay. It is dependence. It is looking to Him for what the soul cannot produce by effort alone. The eagle's wings, the running without weariness, and the walking without fainting all point to strength supplied by God.

The context of Isaiah 40 lifts the eyes to the greatness of God. He does not faint or grow weary. His understanding is unsearchable. That is why weary people can hope. The Lord is not exhausted by what exhausts us.

PSALM 29:11 (ESV) says, "May the LORD give strength to his people!" Strength is a gift before it is an achievement. We receive it by coming again to the One who never runs dry.

End the month honestly. If you are tired, come to the Lord. If you are weak, wait for Him. If you have stumbled, return. The strength you need for faithful walking is not found in self-pressure, but in the God who renews His people.

Renewed strength may come in ways quieter than we expect. It may not feel like sudden energy for everything. It may be strength to obey today, patience for one more step, courage to return, or endurance to keep walking. The Lord knows what kind of strength His people need. Waiting on Him teaches us to stop demanding strength on our own terms and receive what He gives for the path He has set before us.
