Come Boldly to Grace

Grace does not teach us to run from God when we are weak. It teaches us where to run. HEBREWS 4:16 (ESV) says, "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

The throne is still a throne. God is holy, majestic, and worthy of reverence. Yet for those who belong to Christ, it is called the throne of grace. That means the believer does not approach God as though mercy must be dragged from an unwilling Father. We come because Christ has opened the way.

Many people hide when they need help most. Shame says, "Get yourself together first." Pride says, "Handle it alone." Fear says, "God is tired of you." But Scripture says draw near. Not casually. Not proudly. Not pretending sin does not matter. Draw near with confidence because the help you need is found with Him.

ISAIAH 30:18 (ESV) says, "the LORD waits to be gracious to you." That does not make God soft on sin; it reveals His heart toward the needy who turn to Him. Mercy is not found by staying away. Grace is not received by hiding.

Bring the real need, not the edited version. Bring the temptation, weariness, guilt, confusion, weakness, and fear. Come because Christ is enough. The throne of grace is not for people who never struggle; it is for people who know they need mercy and help today.

This invitation also teaches us to stop treating prayer like a last resort. The throne of grace is where strength is given before the fall, mercy is found after confession, and help comes in the very hour of need. God is not honoured when we pretend we are stronger than we are. He is honoured when we come depending on the grace He has promised. Come early. Come honestly. Come often. There is help with Him.
