Turn and Live

God takes no pleasure in the death of anyone. EZEKIEL 18:32 (ESV) says, "For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live." That is conviction and mercy in the same breath.

The command is clear: turn. Sin must not be treated as harmless. Rebellion leads to death, and the Lord does not flatter us by saying otherwise. But the invitation is also clear: live. God calls people away from destruction because His heart is not cruel.

Repentance is not God stealing life from us. It is God calling us back from what kills. Sin often presents itself as freedom, pleasure, control, or relief, but it cannot give life. The Lord's command to turn is grace, even when it confronts what we wanted to keep.

ISAIAH 45:22 (ESV) says, "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth!" The Bible's call is not merely stop doing wrong. It is turn to the Lord. Life is found in Him.

If God is saying turn, do not delay. Do not negotiate with what is destroying you. Do not call conviction condemnation when the Lord is inviting you to life. Turn, and live. His mercy is not against your joy; it is the only road to true joy.

Turning may feel frightening because it means leaving familiar patterns, but familiar does not mean safe. Some chains become comfortable only because we have worn them too long. The Lord's command is mercy breaking through the fog. He is not calling you into emptiness. He is calling you to life. Whatever must be surrendered cannot compare with what is found in Him. Turn from what kills, and come to the God who gives life.

There is no wisdom in waiting for sin to become less dangerous before we leave it. It only hardens with time. If the Lord is calling, answer while your heart can still hear clearly. Turn, and live.
