KEEP GOING

HEBREWS 12:1–2 (ESV)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…”

There comes a point where the focus is no longer on starting, but on continuing. The excitement of beginning something new can fade, and what remains is the steady decision to keep going. That is where real depth is formed, not in moments of intensity, but in consistent movement over time.

HEBREWS 12:1–2 (ESV) speaks directly into that place by calling for endurance. It acknowledges that there are things that can weigh you down, things that can slow you, distract you, or make the journey feel heavier than it needs to be. Those things do not always appear obvious at first, but over time they begin to affect how you move forward.

Letting go of those weights is part of continuing. It is not about perfection, but about recognising what is no longer helping you move in the right direction and choosing to release it. That creates space to move with greater clarity and steadiness.

The focus then shifts to where it belongs.

Looking to Jesus is not a one-time decision, it is an ongoing one. He is described as the founder and perfecter of faith, meaning He is both the starting point and the one who brings it to completion. That changes how the journey is approached, because it is not carried alone.

There will be moments where the pace feels slow, where progress is not as visible, and where continuing requires more intention than before. Those moments are not a sign that something is wrong. They are part of what it means to stay in the race.

What matters is not how fast you move, but that you continue to move in the right direction, with your focus set where it needs to be.

And as you keep going, what once felt like effort begins to form something deeper, something steady, and something that continues to grow because it is rooted in the One who has been there from the very beginning.
