Good to All
PSALM 145:8-9 (ESV)
"The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love."
The goodness of God is not narrow or fragile. PSALM 145:8-9 (ESV) says, "The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The LORD is good to all."
Those words should shape how we see everything. God is not moody like us. He is not impatient in the way sinners are impatient. He is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.
But this truth should do more than comfort us. It should change us. If God has shown such mercy, how can we be people who are harsh, cold, unforgiving, and quick to anger? The grace we receive should begin to reshape the way we deal with others.
LUKE 6:36 (ESV) says, "Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful." We do not become the source of mercy, but we reflect the mercy we have received. A heart that has truly tasted God's compassion should not be content to live cruelly.
Let God's character steady you today. He is good to all. His mercy is not thin. His anger is not impulsive. His love abounds. And because you are His, let His mercy train your words, your patience, your forgiveness, and your treatment of people who need grace too.
The more we see God's mercy clearly, the less acceptable our harshness becomes. We cannot receive daily compassion from the Lord and then act as though others must survive on our impatience. This does not mean ignoring truth or excusing sin. It means truth should be carried by hearts that remember how merciful God has been to us. His goodness is not only something to admire; it is something that begins to shape us.
Let that search the way you respond when people are slow, weak, needy, or difficult. God has been patient with you. His kindness should leave fingerprints on the way you handle others.
