Abound in Hope

Hope is not a personality type. It is a gift rooted in God. ROMANS 15:13 (ESV) says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing." Paul prays that believers would abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This matters because many people try to create hope by forcing positive thoughts. Biblical hope is deeper. It comes from the God of hope, through faith, by the power of the Spirit. It is not pretending trouble is small. It is trusting that God is greater.

Joy and peace are connected to believing. When faith weakens, joy and peace often feel thin. But as the heart returns to what God has spoken, hope rises again. The Spirit strengthens the believer to see beyond the present moment.

ISAIAH 12:2 (ESV) says, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid." Trust and courage grow where God is seen as salvation.

If hope feels low, do not shame yourself into silence. Come to the God of hope. Ask Him to fill what anxiety has drained and disappointment has bruised. He is able to make hope abound, not by your strength, but by His Spirit.

Hope that abounds is not fragile optimism. It can look at sorrow and still say God is faithful. It can wait when answers are delayed. It can worship before circumstances improve. That kind of hope is supernatural. The God of hope gives joy and peace in believing, and the Spirit keeps breathing life where despair wanted to settle.

This hope is not self-made, so do not try to manufacture it alone. Keep coming back to the God of hope. He fills what human strength cannot fill.
