The Lord Will Keep You

March closes with a pilgrim song of confidence in the Lord's keeping. PSALM 121:7-8 (ESV) says, "The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life." Then it says He will keep your going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

This is not a promise of painless travel or a life untouched by harm. The Psalms are honest about trouble, and faithful believers do suffer. It means the life of God's people is held by the Lord and ultimately preserved under His faithful care. Evil does not get the final authority. Circumstances do not become sovereign. The Keeper of Israel watches over His own.

That promise reaches ordinary days. Going out and coming in covers the rhythms of life: work, home, journeys, decisions, unknowns, beginnings, and endings. God is not only Lord over dramatic moments. He keeps His people in the daily path.

2 THESSALONIANS 3:3 (ESV) says, "But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one." The faithfulness of the Lord is the security of His people.

Look back and see where He has kept you. Look ahead and trust that He is still Keeper. Walk with reverence, not fear. The Lord will keep your life, your coming, your going, and your future in His hands.

This promise is a fitting word for endings and beginnings. As one month closes and another comes, the Lord has not changed. He kept you in ways you noticed and in ways you did not. He will keep you in the next step too. Rest does not come from knowing every road ahead. It comes from knowing the Keeper who goes with you.

Let that quiet the need to control everything. Your going out and coming in are not random movements outside God's care. The Lord keeps His people with faithful attention.
