HE IS STILL WORKING

PHILIPPIANS 1:6

PHILIPPIANS 1:6 (ESV)

“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

Many people become discouraged because they expected growth with God to happen instantly. They thought once they began following Jesus, every struggle would disappear immediately, every weakness would vanish overnight, and every part of life would suddenly become easy. But spiritual growth is often a process, and God works deeply within people over time.

That is why PHILIPPIANS 1:6 (ESV) says, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.” The work is not finished yet. God is still shaping, refining, strengthening, correcting, healing, and transforming His people even during seasons where growth feels slow.

There are moments where people become frustrated with themselves because they still battle old mindsets, temptations, fears, emotional wounds, or areas of weakness. Some quietly wonder if God has become disappointed with them because they are not where they hoped they would be spiritually by now. Yet growth with God is rarely instant maturity. It is continual surrender over time.

Many believers become exhausted because they keep measuring themselves only by where they still fall short instead of recognising how far God has already brought them. The enemy constantly tries to keep people focused on failure, shame, and discouragement so they lose hope and stop moving forward altogether. But conviction from God leads people toward restoration, while condemnation leads people toward hopelessness. God corrects because He loves His people, not because He has rejected them.

There are also seasons where God allows stretching, pruning, waiting, or pressure because transformation is happening deeper than what can immediately be seen externally. Just like roots grow beneath the surface before fruit becomes visible, God often develops character, faith, humility, endurance, and dependence internally before the full evidence appears outwardly. That is why believers cannot judge the entire process based only on one difficult season.

God is still working.

He is still shaping you.

Still refining you.

And still leading you forward even when the process feels slow.

So do not lose heart during the process, and do not allow discouragement to convince you that God has stopped working in your life. Because if Christ has truly begun a work within you, He has not abandoned it halfway, and one day you will look back and realise that even in the seasons where you felt weakest, most uncertain, or most unfinished, God was still faithfully working the entire time.
