Daily Dose: FORMED
Part 8 — Still Being Formed
Romans 12:2 (ESV)
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
Whether people realise it or not, every life is being formed by something.
Thought patterns form people. Habits form people. Environments form people. What people continually consume, pursue, love, avoid, entertain, and surrender to slowly shapes the direction of their hearts over time.
No one stays unchanged.
The real question is: What is forming you?
Throughout this series we have walked through obedience, prayer, fasting, discipline, work, charity, and watchfulness. But none of these things were ever meant to become empty religious practices or ways to appear spiritually mature before others.
They were always meant to lead somewhere deeper.
Toward Christ.
Because prayer without Christ eventually becomes routine. Discipline without Christ becomes exhausting. Work without Christ becomes identity. Charity without Christ becomes performance. Watchfulness without Christ becomes fear.
Jesus was always meant to remain at the centre of all of it.
Spiritual formation is not simply about changing outward behaviour. It is about the slow shaping of the heart over time. The world constantly pulls people toward distraction, comfort, pride, selfishness, comparison, compromise, and temporary satisfaction. But Christ calls people toward surrender, transformation, humility, faithfulness, and deeper dependence on Him.
And that process is rarely instant.
Sometimes growth feels slow. Sometimes conviction feels uncomfortable. Sometimes God exposes areas people would rather avoid. Sometimes obedience costs something. Sometimes discipline feels tiring. Sometimes loving people feels difficult. Sometimes remaining watchful feels exhausting.
But even in those moments, God is still working.
Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
That Scripture carries hope.
Because spiritual formation is not ultimately sustained by human strength alone. It is God continuing His work within people over time. Slowly reshaping desires. Renewing the mind. Softening the heart. Teaching dependence. Producing maturity through surrender.
And if you have genuinely walked through this series honestly, slowing down long enough to examine your heart before God, that matters more than you may realise.
In a world constantly shaping people through noise, distraction, impulse, selfishness, comparison, comfort, and endless consumption, simply making intentional space for Christ to form your life is already part of the journey.
So before this series closes, it is important to acknowledge something.
If you have stayed with this series from beginning to end, allowing yourself to reflect honestly, wrestle with conviction, examine areas of your life before God, and remain open to His correction and guidance — that matters.
Not because finishing a series makes someone spiritually mature. Not because reading devotionals saves anyone.
But because many people spend their entire lives avoiding stillness, avoiding conviction, and avoiding the deeper work God wants to do within the heart.
Yet transformation often begins when people finally slow down long enough to let God search what is happening beneath the surface.
Galatians 2:20 (ESV)
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me…”
At the heart of all spiritual formation is this truth:
Jesus was never calling people merely to improve themselves.
He was calling them to follow Him.
And often the deeper people walk with Christ, the more they begin realising that true life was never found in feeding the flesh, chasing temporary comfort, protecting pride, or living only for self.
True life is found in surrendering to the One who changes people from the inside out.
And even now, after everything covered throughout this series, the process is still continuing.
We are all still being formed.
The question is:
What is shaping your life right now?
And is it leading you closer to Christ?
