ROOTED IN JESUS

PSALM 1:1–3 (ESV)

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

God blesses us so we can move forward in His will and be able to bless other people in His name. The more we stay connected to Jesus, the more fruitful our lives become. God does not want us spiritually empty, dry, or disconnected from Him. He wants us to flourish.

Psalm 1 shows us the picture of someone whose roots are planted deeply in God. A healthy tree grows because it stays connected to its source. In the same way, when we spend time with Jesus, meditate on His Word, and stay close to Him daily, His Spirit strengthens us and produces fruit in our lives.

To flourish in God is not about perfection. It is about remaining planted in Him. Spending time in His presence. Returning to His Word. Allowing Him to fill us again when life has drained us. The more time we spend with Him, the more stable we become, even when difficult seasons come.

That is why PSALM 1:3 (ESV) says, “He is like a tree planted by streams of water.” Trees survive because their roots remain connected to a source deeper than what is happening around them. In the same way, believers remain spiritually healthy when their lives stay rooted in Christ instead of being controlled by circumstances.

There are seasons where life feels dry, exhausting, or overwhelming. There are moments where people feel spiritually weak, emotionally drained, or uncertain about what God is doing. But roots matter most during difficult seasons, because deep roots keep the tree standing when storms come.

And the beautiful part of this is that the fruit is not meant to stay with us alone. What God produces in your life is meant to reach others. The love, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and grace that comes through His Spirit becomes evidence of His work within you, and through that fruit other people begin to see His love.

So this becomes the question, are you resisting the pruning, or are you trusting the vine dresser? Because the Father knows exactly what He is doing. He sees the parts of your life that are no longer producing life, and He also sees what you can become if you remain connected to Him.

So allow Him to prune what is dead, allow Him to shape what is growing, and continue abiding in Jesus, because when you stay connected to the true source, the fruit that comes from your life will not come from striving in your own strength, but from the life of Christ flowing through you.
