TRUSTING GOD WHEN YOU CAN’T CONTROL IT
PROVERBS 3:5–6 (ESV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
There are moments where things feel uncertain, unclear, and out of your control. You can try to think it through, try to plan it out, or try to hold everything together, but nothing seems to settle the way you hoped it would.
PROVERBS 3:5–6 (ESV) speaks directly into that place. Trust is not built on having all the answers. It is built on choosing to rely on God, even when things do not make sense. Letting go of understanding does not mean ignoring what is happening. It means not allowing it to become the foundation you stand on.
That is not easy. There is something in all of us that wants clarity, wants certainty, and wants control. And when those things are missing, it can create pressure, frustration, and even fear.
But trust often begins where control runs out.
PSALM 37:5 (ESV) says, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
That does not mean everything will fall into place immediately or exactly how you expect. But it does mean that when something is placed into God’s hands, you are no longer carrying it in the same way. There is a shift from trying to manage everything alone, to allowing God to take what you cannot.
There is a difference between holding on tightly and releasing something with trust. Holding on creates tension. Releasing does not mean giving up, it means placing it somewhere stronger than yourself.
Not everything needs to be figured out today.
Not everything needs to be controlled to move forward.
Sometimes the next step is not clarity.
It is trust.
