RISE UP

May 5, 2026

ISAIAH 60:1 (ESV)

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”

There are moments where staying where you are begins to feel heavier than moving forward. Not because everything is clear, but because something within you knows that you are not meant to remain in the same place. It can feel like being stuck between what has been and what could be, unsure how to move but aware that something needs to change.

ISAIAH 60:1 (ESV) speaks into that moment with clarity, “Arise, shine.” It is not just encouragement, it is direction. Rising is not about having everything in place before you move, it is about responding to what God has already made available. The light has already come. The question is whether you will remain where you are or begin to step into it.

That step can feel difficult, especially when you have been weighed down by disappointment, setbacks, or your own thoughts. It is easy to stay low when things have been heavy. It is easy to believe that staying where you are is safer than risking movement again. But staying still does not remove the weight, it often keeps you under it.

Jesus consistently called people to rise, not because they were already strong, but because He was present with them.

MARK 5:41–42 (ESV) says, “Taking her by the hand he said to her, ‘Talitha cumi,’ which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise.’ And immediately the girl got up and began walking…”

That moment shows something important. The command to rise was not based on her ability. It was based on His authority. In the same way, when God calls you forward, it is not dependent on how ready you feel. It is rooted in His presence and His power.

Rising does not mean everything becomes easy. It means you are no longer choosing to stay where you have been. It means responding to the call, even if it feels small at first. Movement begins to break what has been holding you in place, and over time that movement builds strength.

There will always be reasons to stay where you are. There will always be doubts, questions, and hesitation. But there is also something greater being spoken over your life, something that calls you forward rather than holding you back.

You are not being asked to rise on your own.

You are being called to respond to the One who is already reaching toward you, and that changes what is possible from this point forward.
