GOD’S LOVE

PSALM 52:8–9 (ESV)

“But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.”

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God’s love is not based on where a person is in life. It does not rise and fall depending on performance, behaviour, or how things are going. It is steady, consistent, and unchanging.

There is a tendency to think that God’s love must be earned, that it comes after change, after growth, or after getting things right. But ROMANS 5:8 (ESV) makes it clear, “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That means His love did not wait for improvement. It moved first.

That changes how a person sees everything. It means God is not standing at a distance waiting for perfection. He meets people in the middle of where they are. Not when everything is sorted, but while things are still messy, still broken, still being worked through.

Many struggle to accept that. It feels easier to believe love must be earned, that there has to be something done to deserve it. But God’s love does not operate like that. It is not conditional. It is not dependent on performance. It is rooted in who He is.

PSALM 52:8–9 (ESV) shows the response to that kind of love, “I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.” When that truth is understood, trust begins to grow. Not because everything in life is perfect, but because the foundation is secure.

That kind of love changes direction. It brings stability where there was uncertainty. It brings peace where there was pressure. It brings clarity where things once felt confusing.

God’s love is not something distant or abstract. It is something that has been demonstrated, proven, and made available through Jesus.

It does not need to be earned.

It needs to be received.

And once it is received, it begins to change everything.
