SEEK HIM FIRST

MATTHEW 6:33 (ESV)

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Bitterness, pride, and worldly pressure begin losing power because the heart starts aligning itself with the heart of Christ.

Jesus says in MATTHEW 6:33, “and all these things will be added to you.” This does not mean following Jesus guarantees an easy life or worldly success exactly how people imagine it. It means God knows what His children need, and when people truly place Him first, they begin trusting Him with every other area of life as well.

There are people carrying heavy worries right now about the future, finances, relationships, purpose, healing, or direction. Yet earlier in Matthew 6, Jesus repeatedly teaches against living consumed by anxiety because the Father already knows what His children need before they even ask Him. Worry cannot carry a person into peace. Only trust in God can do that.

The truth is, many of the struggles people battle become heavier because they are trying to carry life without remaining close to the One who gives life. The further people drift from Christ, the louder the pressure of the world often becomes. However, when people remain close to Jesus, their perspective begins changing. Temporary things stop appearing as ultimate things.

When a person makes Jesus the priority, their desires begin changing too. Not because they are forced into empty religion, but because the Holy Spirit begins transforming the heart from the inside out. Things that once seemed important begin losing their hold, while eternal things begin carrying greater weight.

God is not trying to take life away from people. He is trying to lead them into the life they were actually created for. There are seasons where God reshapes the heart completely because some people have spent years building their identity around survival, success, relationships, addiction, comfort, or worldly approval. Yet Jesus calls people into something far deeper than temporary fulfilment. He calls people into surrender, trust, obedience, and relationship with Him.

Following Jesus does not mean the journey becomes easy overnight. There will still be difficult seasons, uncertainty, stretching, and moments where faith is tested. However, when Christ remains the priority, people stop walking through those seasons alone because God begins directing their steps and strengthening them through every stage of the journey.

The world tells people to place themselves first, but Jesus says to seek God first. One path eventually leads deeper into emptiness no matter how successful it may appear outwardly, while the other leads into righteousness, peace, freedom, purpose, and eternal life with Christ.

So make Jesus your priority not only in moments of crisis or when life becomes difficult, but daily. Seek Him first when life feels stable. Seek Him first when life feels uncertain. Seek Him first when the future feels unclear. Because when Christ truly becomes first in a person’s life, everything else finally begins falling into its proper place.
