There is a tendency to think life is random, that things happen without purpose, and that direction is something a person has to figure out completely on their own. But JEREMIAH 1:5 (ESV) reveals something different, “Before I formed you… I knew you.” That means life is not accidental. There is intention, there is design, and there is purpose that existed before anything else.
Many people spend time comparing, looking at others, measuring themselves against different standards, and trying to find value in how they stack up. That leads to confusion, insecurity, and a constant feeling of not being enough. But identity and purpose are not found in comparison, they are found in what God has already established.
EPHESIANS 2:10 (ESV) makes that clear, “we are his workmanship.” That means a person is not self-made. They are created, shaped, and designed with intention. And not just created generally, but created in Christ Jesus for something specific. There are works that have been prepared beforehand, meaning there is direction that already exists.
That does not mean everything is instantly clear. There can be seasons of uncertainty, times where direction is not obvious, and moments where it feels like nothing is moving. But purpose is not lost in those moments. It is still there, even when it is not fully seen.
Being set apart does not mean being separate from life, it means being aligned within it. It means not living randomly, not following every direction, but beginning to walk in what has already been prepared.
There is a difference between drifting and being directed.
Drifting follows whatever comes.
Direction follows what God has already set.
You are not here by accident.
You are created, called, and set apart.
And there is something prepared that you are meant to walk in.
